Liz Adams Barton is the daughter of a powerful Boston father. He has dreams of his son, Daniel, being President and pushes for it all through his childhood. Daniel accidently drowns and Will Adams sets his sights on his daughter becoming First Lady.

Liz Adams Barton is the perfect politician's wife. She has supported her husband and her father's dream of the White House. On the eve of the nomination for President, her wheelchair-bound son disappears with his attendant to have some "normal" time before the election and her father dies of a stroke.

The events that follow show Liz that it's time to start thinking for herself. The family has to come to terms that they have to start running their own lives.

This story reminds me a little of the Kennedys and the Bushes. The story never lags and has a wonderful insight into politics. The two subplots give a real-life feel to the story.
