Jasmine has always thought she wanted to be an outlaw when she grew up, like her daddy was when she was young. Her father gives her the ultimatum to settle down with a husband or he'll select one for her. Jasmine selects Brody McClintock thinking that he's a drifter and she'll soon be rid of him. Brody is really one of the most responsible men she could have picked. Brody is a Texas Ranger on assignment.

Brody comes with a lot of emotional baggage and there was a couple of times I just wanted to smack some sense into him. Jasmine has a lot of growing up to do. Fortunately, she doesn't take all the way to the end of the book. Both characters are people you would like to know.

There's a sweet secondary romance for Jasmine's father and their neighbor Emma.
